Profile
London South Bank University (LSBU) holds the Centre for Automated and Robotic NDT. The Centre has 11 research staff and has links to robotics and control teaching and training laboratories. Its expertise includes automated NDT methods, design and construction of climbing robots and scanning arms for custom-specified applications, theoretical modelling of ultrasonic fields scattered from defects in granular materials, software and non-destructive materials evaluation by NDT. Consultancy is offered in X-ray and Gamma ray inspection methods, digital signal processing, modelling of ultrasonic fields, AE and electromagnetic measurements.
Role and Partcipation
LSBU will participate in all areas of the project in an advisory manner and will carry out modelling tasks and experimentation to validate the systems efficiency before the prototype is constructed. It will also be involved in the construction of defect recognition software.
Reason for Selection
LSBU was chosen by the SMEs because of its long track record in the delivery of EU contracts on automation, mathematical modelling and novel software development for NDT and NDE.
